Mobile Telecom

Collis and Aspects Tools have been delivering products and solutions to the Telecom industry for over a decade. In 2006, Collis acquired Aspects Tools. To fully integrate both companies, Aspects Tools has been re-branded to Collis Great Britain. This integration enables a complete portfolio of Test Tools, Consultancy & Training offering for the Mobile Telecom market. The Aspects brand will continue to be used in the Collis Product Portfolio i.e. products developed for the Mobile Telecom market will include the Aspects brand name. For more information click here.

At Seeker Wireless we've been using the Aspects SmartStation3s and PowerMonitor to help us develop SIM toolkit applications and investigate handset compatibility issues. These tools dramatically reduce our testing and troubleshooting effort and end all of the guesswork about what data was exchanged and when. The PowerMonitor translates the contents of these data units according to the relevant protocols, truly making the tools a joy to work with. My SIM toolkit team say this tool has been a life saver for them.”

The ‘telecoms market’ is a wide ranging term, covering a diverse set of technologies from the UMTS and LTE on the air interface, through to SWP and USB protocols on the smart card interface. The phone manufacturer now has to be an expert in such different areas as voice, data, security and cameras. With such diversity the development and implementation of new technologies is a complex and challenging task. Each new technology requires specialist knowledge which is rarely available within one company, even within the global players.

The need for specialist knowledge drives collaborative partnerships, and creating specialist companies such as Venyon to achieve goals. Therefore the core challenge moves from pure development to integration, with the developer focusing more on integrating and debugging solutions from multiple vendors. When combined with delays in agreeing the formal standards, as we saw with the USB protocol, means that companies are often developing and integrating solutions which may require significant changes ¾ of the way through their development. With little room for delay, it is therefore essential that the developers can implement, and re-implement, as quickly as possible.

For over 10 years, we have focused on developing market leading interoperability solutions, to ensure that the developer and the integrator can work quickly and effectively; helping the developer delivering on time despite the challenges behind the scenes.
